19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.
It is his initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
